The Western Australian Lapidary and Rockhunting Club

Other Activities

Tumbling Stones: Attractive displays and economic costume jewellery can be obtained from mass-produced gemstone pebbles or rock fragments by means of a tumbling machine.
No particular skills are required beyond common sense and patience, however, help is available if required from experienced Club members,to enable new members to get started.

Tumbling machines are not provided at the Club. However, they are relatively cheap to purchase and can often be fabricated at home by the keen handyman.

Faceting: Although not an official Lapidary Club activity, many Club members and members of The Australian Facetors Guild meet at the clubrooms each month to pursue this most rewarding activity. Expert guidance is available to those with their own faceting machine and beautiful gemstones can be produced from rough material.

The facetors meet at the clubrooms on the third Saturday each month except June and December.

Members of the Mineralogical Society of Western Australia hold meetings at the Lapidary Club premises on the first Wednesday in the months of February, April, June, August, October and December. Not all members of the Lapidary Club are members of the Mineralogical Society , however, as both organisations have broadly similar objectives, i.e. to encourage an interest in rocks and minerals and earth science, it s appropriate that the Society hold their meetings in the Lapidary Club premises and many Lapidary Club members belong to both organisations.
